SHIRO UTAFUSA

Born in Nagoya, Japan, on 27 December, 1983.
After he finished primary and secondary schools, Shiro attended to the Technical School Osaka Modo Gakuen in 2003, where he studied Fashion for 4 years.
 

During his first two years, he realized that he was more motivated in drawing classes and he was drawing more often than designing. He spent a lot of time in sketching and doodling characters in his notebooks, mostly figures with “curly hairs”.

After graduating from his school 2007, with a dream of becoming

a painter in his mind, Shirou traveled to Australia, while traveling in vast land and discovering a new cultures of the new world, he worked at various jobs and drew portraits of people whom he met during his journey.  

When he returned to Japan he continued earning his life from side jobs and drawing portraits of people for 2 years, thus allowing him pursue his dream.
 

During his visit to Indonesia, his attention was drawn by the rich colors and paintings on textiles, he then moved to Bali, in 2009, continued to learn and explore different techniques of drawing and painting. He stretched his journey of learning and discovering about the world’s cultures and the art world, he moved to Singapore for

a short period of time and lived in Italy for 7 months.

Shiro explored and learnt different styles of paintings, experimented contemporary western painting and traditional Japanese painting. Eventually painting became his life style. He finally reached to the level of professionalism in both of these technique and developed

his own style; where he created dream-full characters and cheerful figures in his paintings.
 

His work can be categorized in 2 styles; one is in contemporary modern paintings, the other is in traditional Japanese figures and themes.

He held many solo and group exhibitions in Japan, participated some exhibitions in Taiwan and Australia. Shirou is currently working at his studio in Northern Japan.
